It's Peculiar Piccadilly time!! This year's theme is "Caribbean Holiday". The Peculiar Piccadilly is a themed, dinner event fundraiser for the Downtown Peculiar Arts and Culture District (DPACD), which will be held Saturday February 25, 2012. It is an evening to dress up in your flip flops and straw hats (island attire not required - but it is more fun), enjoy some of the great food which is one of the hallmarks of this event, experience a break from the winter doldrums in a professionally decorated atmosphere and have the chance to win a piece of original artwork or entry to an art class or event. Steve Gouge and his beach tunes will make you think summer has arrived! Steve, long time house entertainer for Cheeseburgers In Paradise, is sure to incite spontaneous dancing and warm sea breezes.

We expect art donations that span the spectrum so there is surely something for everyone! This event is expected to sell out (it did last year) so get your tickets early (there are NO ticket sales at the door!). Reduced price, early bird tickets are on sale now. You can purchase tickets online at www.downtownpeculiar.com, at the Peculiar Pharmacy or by mail by mailing a check payable to DPACD to 152 Broadway Street, Peculiar, MO (be sure to write Piccadilly in the memo line). The live music will play during the art preview and cocktail "hour" (try the signature drink!) from 6:30 pm - 7:15 pm while attendees browse through the donated art, pick their favorites and renew friendships. There will a short break while there are a few announcements and then the music will play through the delicious, catered dinner which will go until around 8:00 pm. After dinner, we begin the highlight of the evening - the Piccadilly Art Auction (a peculiar type of auction if you will). Low bids and a "bid on it all" option (psst - you can get a reduced price on the auction if you buy early bird tickets)! The auction items and donating artists always reflect a variety of styles and media that will appeal to a wide variety of people. Even if you win something that is not exactly your taste, trading has been known to occur! Last year we had donations from local artists, artists from other states and two from other countries. Our youngest artist was 8; our oldest was 85. Retail value of the art last year exceeded $5000. Each attendee will receive a small piece of what we call "table art" at their seats. Please make sure you can take your auction wins home with you as we will not be able to store them. All proceeds go toward Downtown revitalization.

It's a Peculiar kind of fun!!
