DPACD Announces New Piece of Public Art
The Downtown Peculiar Arts & Culture District wishes to announce a public art piece by artist Rita Lillig. Ms. Lillig is a multi media artist and a Peculiar resident. Rita is an accomplished artist with diverse interests and methods of expression.
DPACD sincerely appreciates the assistance given by the Raymore-Peculiar School District on this project. This winsome and unique piece is placed on the grounds of the Peculiar Elementary School at the end of Broadway on Third Street. It reflects the innocence and limitless possibilities that are the birthright of childhood.
This piece will act as the eastern anchor of the public art walk DPACD is creating in Downtown. We currently have a grant in for an outdoor gallery that will be part of the art walk, two pieces of chainsaw art were added as part of the Clara Brierly Festival of the Arts held on June 12 - 14, 2009 and the final planter in the DPACD sign plaza will be completed soon.
The ribbon cutting for Early Blooms was held immediately following the June 09 Peculiar Area Chamber of Commerce Third Friday Coffee. Come view the piece, take pictures and remember childhood for a moment.
