Featured Member Artist - Brenda Conway
Brenda (Galloway) Conway is both a writer and a visual artist. She started writing when she was six years old. Her interest in the visual arts began in high school. Brenda received her BA in studio art and her minor in English with a creative writing emphasis. But, as often happens, life's super highways got in the way of dream paths and, while there was always a toe in creative pursuits, it took until middle age before she went path blazing with intent again.
Her writing encompasses poetry, short stories, tentative voyeurism into the world of song writing as well as over a decade in the practical world of technical writing (OSHA compliance manuals, employer policies and website content for example).
With regard to visual art, she loves it all - and wants to try it all. Most recently focusing on photography, mixed media work and concrete.
Brenda is one of the founders and the current President of the Downtown Peculiar Arts & Culture District. Her family moved to Peculiar, Missouri when she was three years old and, while she has not lived in Peculiar exclusively since that time, she has always claimed Peculiar as her home town. Her dream is to merge her love for integrating creativity and art into everyday life with her love for Peculiar.
Much of Brenda's professional life has involved adult education. She hopes to be student and teacher in both life and art until she leaves her body.
Her current personal quotes are: "What you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it." (Goethe) and "Who Knew" (her favorite T-shirt).
