4th Annual Peculiar Piccadilly & Art Auction Fundraiser
The Peculiar Piccadilly is a themed, dinner event fundraiser for the Downtown Peculiar Arts and Culture District (DPACD), which was held Saturday February 26, 2011. It was an evening to dress up in your most imaginative black and white attire, enjoy some of the great food which is one of the hallmarks of this event, experience a break from the winter doldrums in a professionally decorated atmosphere and have the chance to win a piece of original artwork or entry to an art class or event. Our big band tunes fit in perfectly this year and we know they delighted everyone. This year's band, KC Swing, is a five piece professional band playing swing tunes and dance standards from the first half of the twentieth century. The band consists of saxophone, trombone, piano, bass and drums and vocals. They have been playing for dances and parties around the Kansas City area for more than 10 years. We are excited that local reality TV star, Jesse Beck (The Bachelorette and The Bachelor Pad) agreed to act as the Master of Ceremonies this year.
We had diverse art donations so, as always, there was surely something for everyone! This year we sold out. We encourage you to get your tickets early next year to make sure you have a spot (there are NO ticket sales at the door!). Tickets are $50 per person. You can purchase tickets online at www.downtownpeculiar.com, at the Peculiar Pharmacy or by mail by mailing a check payable to DPACD to 152 Broadway Street, Peculiar, MO (be sure to write Piccadilly in the memo line). Retail value of the art this year exceeded $5500. Each attendee received a small piece of what we call "table art" at their seats and a delicious cake pop from KC Cakepops. . All proceeds from this event go toward Downtown revitalization.
